Town of South Bruce Peninsula – On Sunday, MPP Rick Byers met with the members of the Peninsula Adventure Sports Association (PASA) as they met for their AGM and to recognize their many volunteers for their support over the last 12 years. MPP Byers was also able to officially congratulate the group on the work done since receiving a $32,000 Community Building Fund grant from the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) in 2021. Funds were used to support and adapt the three fundraising events (the Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race, the Tobermory Trail Race Weekend and a new virtual orienteering event).

“I am very pleased that the Peninsula Adventure Sports Association was successful in receiving a Community Building Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Association’s events are so important in supporting sport and sport infrastructure on the Bruce Peninsula and they are also fantastic community events” MPP Rick Byers, Bruce Grey Owen Sound.

“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be overstated,” said Tara Harpur, PASA President. “It allowed us to purchase gear critical to the development of a sustainable race course, key to our continuing, as we are a volunteer run organization. Some years we had as many volunteers as racers on the course and that was becoming unmanageable.”

PASA is committed to the support of outdoor sport on the Bruce Peninsula in various ways, like the development and maintenance of a gear library at the Outdoor Education Centre for children to have access to skis and snowshoes.
