Grey Bruce Hospice Utilizes $34,700 OTF Grant for Upgrades to Kitchen Facilities

October 11, 2024

OWEN SOUND – On Friday, October 11, MPP Rick Byers met with the team at Grey Bruce Hospice to hear more about the $34,700 Capital grant that it received in 2023 from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The year-long grant has been used to install a commercial grade refrigerator and large walk-in freezer. The project will be instrumental in working with community donors to provide ongoing food supports for residents and their families.

“Congratulations to the Grey Bruce Hospice on recognizing the Ontario Trillium Foundation grant that helped to update their refrigerator and walk-in freezer. The update of larger appliances will ensure the Hospice can achieve quality of life for residents and their families” said MPP Rick Byers, Bruce Grey Owen Sound.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous grant, which will significantly enhance our kitchen renovation at Chapman House, said Amy McConachie, Donor Relations Coordinator, Grey Bruce Hospice Inc. “The addition of a large walk-in freezer and refrigerator will be instrumental in our mission to provide excellent meals for our residents and their families during difficult times. While we cannot alleviate the grief they experience, we take pride in offering comforting, high-quality meals that bring a sense of warmth and care. These larger appliances will also enable us to accept more food donations, helping us offset costs as a nonprofit organization. Grants like these are paramount in our efforts to grow, achieve excellence, and continue making a positive impact in our community. Thank you once again for your support; it truly makes a difference,” added McConachie.
